In 1988 Meryl and her close friend, Ellen Dorn Levitt, created a line of jewelry made from recycled scrap metal, Alchemy Wearable Art. With the “green movement” in its infancy, the idea of painted bottle cap earrings and rusty” road kill” pins took off. For nearly nine years, Alchemy jewelry appeared at high end craft fairs and shops throughout the U.S. and even traveled to Japan.
